ditch & switch

See ya Starbucks

Yep. I gave up Starbucks…. and there were two major factors to my decision.

1. Cost – I was spending wayyyyy too much money there. It can be a trap. Picture this – you’re waiting in the drive through line (or inside) and while you’re waiting and deciding what drink you want to order you see the menu and suddenly feel hungry like maybe you want a snack or too also. I also almost always got a large and it was never just a black regular coffee either (because what’s the point of Starbucks for that lol). So, by the time you get to checkout your total is $15. Sure, $15 one time doesn’t sound terrible but when your getting coffee almost every day it adds up fast! That’s over $300 a month if you go almost every day! Even if I didn’t get any snacks it would still come out to be over $100 a month. On top of all of that – if you get sucked into the new obligatory tip system then it will be far more than that. I decided I’d tip myself by saving the money and making coffee at home. Now that I drink coffee at home I can drink MUCH healthier coffee for far less money (more on that below).

2. Ingredients – Not all coffee is created equal. Most coffee contains mold and mycotoxins, so even if you do just get a plain coffee it still isn’t safe from that. The fancier you go with the drink choice the more toxic the ingredients involved. Don’t even get me started on the pumpkin spice latte (that could be a post of its own). So for my health I wanted to start drinking a cleaner coffee.

So what coffee am I drinking now? I alternate between two different completely clean options and both are tested extensively for mold and glyphosate.

Organo King Coffee – This coffee contains Reishi and organic coffee. The benefits of Reishi are amazing and I will do a separate post on all of its benefits soon. Click here for Organo King Coffee.

Amare Happy Juice (Mango) – Amare (the mental wellness company) has a variation of their classic happy juice pack that contains lions mane, lychee fruit, and clean caffeine from green coffee beans (I will also be doing a post on this amazing drink in the next few days). It helps with gut health, neuron regeneration and provides a healthy clean energy. Click here for the Mango Happy Juice with a $10 coupon included in the link 🙂

Both of these options come in individual packets that you can take with you on the go making them convenient for traveling and every day use. Another reason I love that they are in packets is because coffee makers can harbor mold and are a pain to clean every day but this way I can just open a packet and put it in my water. I put the Organo king coffee in hot water and the mango happy juice in room temperature water.

Both of these have been a game changer for my health and also spared me the crash I used to get from sugary Starbucks drinks (even when I asked for drinks without sugar I still got a crash from them).

I have also heard that Kion and Purity coffee are good clean brands too if you do want to use your coffee maker and make pots of it. I haven’t personally used either but have heard great things!

It’s been over two years since I’ve had a Starbucks drink and I don’t miss it at all! If you are ready to give up Starbucks whether for cost or health or both… I hope this helped give you a starting place of good options!
